Post #74,356 by n3jja 1/13/03 11:48:48 PM Reply	Questions about Comcast for BeeP, or anyone who knows Looks like I'll be moving at the end of this month and it appears that Verizon's ADSL is not going to be available from my new location. Since I've been on ADSL for nearly 3 years, I simply cannot go back to dialup. Therefore, I'm forced to contemplate Comcast's offerings. What I really need to know from BeeP or anyone who already has the service is whether or not those "Nazis bastards" are going to give me any greif about running a FTP and/or mail server. I know they frown on web servers, but I'm not interested in that at all. Any pitfalls or pointers I need to know when talking to these people are greatly appreciated.
Post #74,522 by broomberg 1/14/03 7:56:53 PM Reply	I use them Love it. Only run sshd though , so I can't tell you if they will hassle you over it. I use a Linksys router/firewall that gets the DHCP address fine, and it is the DHCP server for all the computers in the house.

I've had Apache running on my connection since the beginning. Problem is now that they have started to occassionally sweep the dhcp connections...so what once was essentially a fixed IP system will now be an occassionally changed IP system. Barry is on a different branch than I...maybe they haven't started this in all areas yet.
