Then run:
apt-get update
apt-get install gnome gdm2
You do need to answer a few question, but considering that Gnome 1.4 has to come out and roughly 100 items need to be updated, it went without a hitch. I did reboot since GUI terminal 7 vanished, but that's because I wasn't sure how to re-initialize it.
