New Telling apt-get to look at CDs: apt-cdrom

Run apt-cdrom and feed your CDs into the CD drive. They'll be added to your /etc/apt/sources.list file. Run apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade and, with luck, you'll get an update off the CDs. You can modify this file by hand as well, or use apt-setup.

Without luck, you may want to read my recent posts and Rick Moen's advice on packages to update first when doing a potato => woody upgrade.

New Thanks - I might have a go at it this weekend.
John. Busy lad.
New Have you had a go yet?
Hi.
Have you succeeded in your Debian installation yet?
I can tell you it's great fun.
In fact the stability of 'stable' is so effective that I've been running on 'unstable' versions for so long just for the thrill.
So far I've only had three occasions with Sid where I had to muck around with /etc/apt and muck about with installing/uninstalling apps.
Otherwise everything has been running smoothly.
In fact my only problem with the computer now is the hardware is suffering :(
