GPF found with Lucom Server, what is Lucom Server?
Is this some sort of Spyware that got installed and now is getting buggy? What is the Lucom Server anyway? I don't remember installing it. Is someone using it to access my machine remotely? Or is it Spyware installed with something else? Reason I ask is that I didn't install anything on my machine recently, but it just now came up as an error.
The exact error is:
LUCOMSERVER caused an invalid page fault in module LUCOMSERVER.EXE at 017f:005100c0. Registers: EAX=00000001 CS=017f EIP=005100c0 EFLGS=00010246 EBX=006a0000 SS=0187 ESP=007afdc0 EBP=007afe38 ECX=00ff0f80 DS=0187 ESI=00000000 FS=4dff EDX=81797124 ES=0187 EDI=00000000 GS=0000 Bytes at CS:EIP: 00 00 04 00 20 60 00 dd 80 01 1c 00 16 10 00 dd Stack dump: 0050924f 00000000 81798adc 006a0000 c0000005 007afc44 bffc9490 007aff68 bffc05b4 bff79198 ffffffff 00000001 007afc60 bffc9490 007aff68 bffc05b4
It seems to happen every five minutes now! I cannot find anything in memory that is named this. Not on the taskbar or on the Task menu via control-alt-del.

Live Update COMmunications SERVER
LiveUpdate Engine COM Module. LUCOMSERVER is entirely to do with Norton\ufffds LiveUpdate, whether you have Norton AntiVirus, Norton PCAnywhere, Norton Personal Firewall, or Norton Internet Security. It only appears in your Task List if you happen to bring up the Task List at the very moment that Norton\ufffds LiveUpdate is checking whether there are software or virus definitions updates, or if LiveUpdate is in the process of downloading updates.
Recommendation : Do nothing. As soon as LiveUpdate finishes LUCOMSERVER will disappear from your Task List. If LiveUpdate is not allowed to finish (your connection to the Internet is closed), or is waiting for end-user input, LUCOMSERVER will remain in the Task List.

Thanks
I reinstalled NAV 2003 and it seems to have gone away. I think that the NAV 2003 program invoked it. But somehow the LUSERVER got clobbered on the disk. I am scanning the disk for errors now while I use my W2K server that does not run the NAV 2003, but instead runs a different Antivirus program. NAV 2003 won't run on the Server version of W2k for some reason. But others will.

LUCOMSERVER.exe
According to google, it's Symantec's Live Update Service.
One link I got: [link|http://www.experts-exchange.com/Applications/Email/Q_20258308.html|http://www.experts-e...l/Q_20258308.html]

Re: LUCOMSERVER.exe
Right - after you've surreptitiously removed NAV from your new laptop, it leaves the updater as a stub of its lifeless corpse.

Get it out of the registry
it'll be in run once or run there..or possibly even simpler...located in the startup folder...or loaded by preference in your AV package. Shut it off.

Don't ask. It's better for you that way.
