Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Didja....
Add the path the /etc/ld.so.conf and then run ldconfig?

My only thing I know of to get things like that error to work.

You have compat libs installed?

New Re: Didja....
Re: running ldconfig: yep. I believe I mentioned that as well. ;-)

Re: compat libs: I only vaguely know what that is. However, the lib it's looking for comes with the software installation, so it's not a Linux lib that's missing.

I've managed to get a few of the command line utilities to run by doing an explicit 'export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=etc' before running the command. I can't seem to make it "stick", however.

New aha
like I do when I have to interface with Oracle creat an ld.env file with all the paths whined about by the app in questionand source it before running the app. if that works src the env file from your .profile or .login whichever you are using.

New Only works for some of them.
There are other command line apps which appear to start up other apps under a different environment. I think I'm just going to have to wade down through their shell scripts and figure out if LD_LIBRARY_PATH is being carried along for the ride.

New Re: Only works for some of them.
It's a [link|http://linuxmafia.com/~rick/linux-info/ld-lib-path.html|familiar problem], alas. You will indeed have to grovel through all the scripts.
