The left out about half of the story of the first book - and still it was a 3 hour movie! The most memorable fact I got from FoTR was just how big a story it is: a 3 hour movie and they only fit in about half of a third of the whole story...!

It means if anyone wants to film any recent fantasy series, they need to realize that one feature-length movie isn't going to be enough. In fact, 3 movies is not likely to be enough, either.
