You cannot simply switch to proven technologies like windows and vb6 because its cool. You need to prove a business case why you should have 24x7 hardware support and software that requires a team of expensive programmers that make it all work sorta and costs 8 times as much as what you have that does what you want. However, imo, anyone who buys a new as400 with OS400 and DB2/400 on it and begins a "do over" with those tools and RPG/ILE is out of his mind.
