Bush formally cuts Lott loose, clearing the way for him to be removed from office.

This significantly lowers Trent's odds because the danger of crossing the vindictive Bush White House is a major factor to many Republican Senators.

I would drop his odds to being 1 to 2 against now.

New Well, when faced with a Real Leader of Men,
(even one whose entire funding must come from Them)

Republicrats are equally gutless - whether it's about the Constitution or about the tenure of A Good Old Boy, caught talking out of the cloak room with understanding peers.

Fine speech by Barbara Boxer today on NPR (World Affairs Council) in which she postulated that this is about a Lot more than 'Lott'. Have to see if that speech is transcripted.. She even gave it a title ~ to do with "Six Principles". (Too early for Google) Maybe she sounded even Presidential.

She spoke of the terror, in Florida as a young girl - black folks in the back of the bus, etc. "Why, mommie?" All evoked starkly by this lugubrious cracker's longing for that Status Quo.

Maybe best if he stays in power, to remind once again.. in timely fashion before any next election? (if we have another election) - how many in the Congress share his nostalgia. But weasel a lot, in civilian company.

New There is no "if"
There will be elections.

Everybody has elections.

And when you own the courts, there isn't any reason not to.
