New Nope
Too many fingers in the pie especially Microsoft. They would never allow any part of OS/2 that they have written be made available to Open Source so Linux and BSD can beat them further.

If IBM was to strip out all the other IP from other companies, you wouldn't have an OS. Can you actually imagine trying to sort out what is what when next to none of the developers are there working on it? On top of that it isn't even portable. There is a tonne of x86 ASM in there.

Lastly, what motivation would IBM have in even doing that? They're not going to make any money on it and the public goodwill won't match the amount of money they'll have to put into releasing the thing.

Geez people, as a long time former OS/2 user and a big proponent (even did a trade show or two), it's time to officially bury OS/2 once and for all. It's a damn shame that it never fully succeeded but it was a good ride for a while. :-)

New Re: Nope
There are four kinds of people:

Those who believe that the speed of light can be circumvented, and that the WPS will be ported.

Those who believe that the speed of light is the way things are, and that the WPS will be ported.

Those who believe that the speed of light can be circumvented, but the WPS is history.

Me.
