Minimal recomendations?

Post #65,541 by broomberg 11/27/02 6:41:34 PM Reply	Minimal recomendations? We just bought a bunch of those Gateway discontinued utility boxes. They ran their own Linux out of a flash rom. No floppy, no hardisk. Just 128MB flash. We can go to the 256M or 512M, but we'd prefer to use the smaller one. Knoppix is way too big. Is there a particular distribution that gives me 'X', lightweight desktop, ssh, x3270, gvim, etc? Or a starting point to roll my own?

Post #65,700 by broomberg 11/29/02 9:34:38 AM Reply	I think I have a direction Wander throught the following links, looking for something that is small, has 'X', and that I can modify: [link\|http://www.linux.org/dist/list.html\|http://www.linux.org/dist/list.html] Pick ByzantineOS (after narrowing out a few). DL ByzantineOS, find out is is CRAMFS (Compressed ROM File System) based. Find out my current RH home based in already handles it. Do a test mkcramfs and mount it, seems to work. I'm 90% there.
