New Military network
VNC is not an option, and would be shot down immediately. It would also be more difficult for visiting presentors than we would like. I had actually considered running a VNC server on the same computer, but there's still the setup issue, and the issue of getting it authorized. What licence is VNC under. If it can be automatically started (both server and viewer) so that the user doesn't have to do anything to get both displays, I may be able to argue getting it. But I don't know how well GPL licenced software will go over. I'll try it at home first, but that's running XP.

New It's GPL
Which means you can examine the source of your particular installation. It also can run over [link|http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/sshvnc.html|SSH]. You can download the installation program(s) for the platform(s) of your choice, verify they do what they claim (if you want) and keep that on your conference room box. You can install the server (that's the piece that sits on the box running the application/generating the UI) from this verified source.

Anyone coming in with their own box can plug it into your network, or direct NIC to NIC with the projecter box (depending on security concerns), install the server and go.

After the first time you've done it, it actually takes less time to do than it's just taken you to read this.
