Oh crimey. It's not sitting in front of a computer screen, it's sitting (relatively) immobile in one position for hours at a time, perhaps poor ergonomics between monitor and keyboard, probably further complicated by poorly fitting or seating chairs. And, of course, some people are just more sensitive to the quality of a monitor (and of course companies all say to themselves, "hey, why buy an expensive 17" Sony Trinitron one when we can get this 15" Samsung one for $150?")
Do something similar in almost *any* line of work, whether or not a computer is involved, and you'll get similar effects.
