Okay, after a year my Radeon All-In-Wonder finally works with my chipset (long and expensive story). I *could* put all my old tapes on just CD's, but the thought of DVD has entered my head now and I can't get it out. Mostly because I can't fit an hour-long show on one (700M) CD with any quality. But also 'cause I have a few 1000 bucks worth of laserdiscs that I could see myself bringing forward onto DVD.

[link|http://www.videoguys.com|http://www.videoguys.com] has a couple good deals on the Pioneer A04 DVD burner plus burning software (Impression looks best right now: multiple angles, audio, and subtitles). But I want to digitally trim out commercials, glitches, et cetera. NLE and DVD-composition/burning software are not the same thing. What I *don't* really care to spend extra money on is snazzy faders, titlers, and effects.

Yes, I already have the cheesy Ulead Video Studio 4 that came with my ATI Radeon All-In-Wonder. Unfortunately, Ulead's idea of "cut" means grab the source video, save the clip before the commercials as a new file, save the bit after the commercials as a new file, then make a new clip from the two. Then manually delete the original. Frustrating to say the least, especially when even a half-hour show has at least three act breaks.

So, I'm looking for recommendations for a software video editor. Specs:

1. Input and output should both handle mp2.
2. An actual "cut" command.
3. Under $200 would be nice.

Anyone? McFly?
