Welcome to IWETHEY!

New New, improved backup script
Runs at 2am Central time... Between the non-Americas members here, there is no really good time to down the site for nightly maintenance. This was the best I could come up with to impact the least number of people.
Regards,

New Heh...
TWikIWeThey's backup runs whenever the hell I feel like it, via rsync, on a 56k modem line, in a minute or so, with no service interruption ;-)

New Aren't we special... ;-)
And I suppose TWikIWeThey has a 150M database dump file, too, eh...?

"Welcome to Rivendell, Mr. Anderson..."
New The site's currently running about...
...53MB total. Since it's flatfiles, it's pretty manageable. The data component itself is 32 MB. Tarred & zipped, it's just barely 10 MB total.

New Must ... not ... pick ... nits ... ... ... GAAAH
This was the best I could come up with to impact the least number of people.
impact - Function: verb
Etymology: Latin impactus, past participle of impingere to push against -- more at IMPINGE
Date: 1601
transitive senses
1 a : to fix firmly by or as if by packing or wedging b : to press together

affect - Function: transitive verb
Etymology: Middle English, from affectus, past participle of afficere
Date: 15th century
: to produce an effect upon:

[pant pant pant]

Sorry. Until it became a buzzword, no one used the word "impact" as a verb except dentists. It still sounds buzzwordy to me, considering it could be replaced by "affect" in nearly every case.

New Errrr....
Quote the rest of that definition from Merriam-Webster, you knob:

2 a : to have an impact on : impinge on b : to strike forcefully; also : to cause to strike forcefully

So, let's go see what 'impinge' means here, kids:

Function:\tintransitive verb

Inflected Form(s):\tim\ufffdpinged; im\ufffdping\ufffding

Etymology:\tLatin impingere, from in- + pangere to fasten, drive in -- more at [link|dictionary?book=Dictionary&va=pact|PACT]

Date:\t1605

1 : to strike or dash especially with a sharp collision <I heard the rain impinge upon the earth -- James Joyce>
2 : to have an effect : make an impression <waiting for the germ of a new idea to impinge upon my mind -- Phyllis Bentley>
3 : [link|dictionary?book=Dictionary&va=encroach|ENCROACH], [link|dictionary?book=Dictionary&va=infringe|INFRINGE] <impinge on other people's rights>

They had buzzwords back in 1605...?

Sorry. Drive through, thanks for playing. ;-)

New Yeah yeah, I know
But think about it. Until the last 5-10 years, anyone saying what you did would have used the word "affect". Then some copywriter realized that "imapct" had more ... impact. Now all the marketspeak uses it exclusively; they never say "affect" when "impact" can work. That, to me, qualifies it as primarily a buzzword.

New Waitaminute
You're delivering a speech explaining why marketers might be correct but maybe wrong... trailing off... nevermind, marketers are *never* right.
