New CDR burning problems with audio CDs
I own audio CDs, like "In Visible Silence" by "The Art Of Noise" and I would like to play a copy of it in my car's CD player. I burned a copy at 1X, using Ahead Nero that came with my CDR drive, and it worked the first time, then after that the car CD player reported an "Error" after trying to play the first track on the second time. I even tried using MP3 files to create audio CDs at 1X, 2X and 4X, but got the same results. The same audio CDR disks play fine in the computers I put them in. Only other factor I could notice is that the car gets damp inside after it rains or early in the morning. But the original audio CDs play fine rain or shine, and the CDR copies do not most of the time. I could just use my originals, but I do not want to ruin them or have someone break into my car to steal them.

Any ideas?

What is the best CDR software to get to make good CDR audio copies? Or is that not possible with most CD players for cars?

New Re: CDR burning problems with audio CDs
some CD players don't support CD-R some suppport CD-RW as well
my burned disks play in almost any player (some don't play CD-R)
yours should too

so

do your burned disks play in other non-computer players?
do burned disks made by others work in your car?

New CDR dye "color"
I can't remember the details at the moment (Google knows all), but different CDR dye types (colors) have different compatibility rates (and life spans) with many CD players. I think "blue" ones are more widely compatible but don't hold me to that. Perhaps you should try some of a different dye type/color than what you are using currently.

New Re: CDR dye "color"
So far I am using the blue dye color. What other colors are available? I've only seen the blue CDR disks, and then the special black ones that are used for Playstation and other copies, but they cost a whole lot more.

I am using Sony or Verbatim brand CDR disks in a BTC 16x10x40x CDR drive.

Ah, I just found an old "HI-VAL" generic CDR with a silver dye color. I will try that one and see how it works. Thanks for the tip.

New Yes
my burned disks work fine in my wife's van or the CD player on the Boombox we have at home. They also play fine in any computer with a CD-ROM drive.

Sometimes they play in my car CD player and sometimes they don't. All I get is "Error" after about 30 seconds of the CD player trying to access track 1.

New Yes
Then I blame the car player
time for a new one?

New Ya know....
The SIZE of the CD might have something to do with it... I have a buddy whos car player won't play disks burned with more than 640mb of data/audio - (won't play if they aren't 'fixated' either) Are these CD's straight copies of existing ones, or compilations?

True the CD should be closed to any additional writing if you want it to work in older players

New Copies of the originals
and yes they have been closed after being burned.

Question: "Are those CD-R Music CDs for Audio Recording any better than Data CDRs?" are they worth the extra money to buy?

I think I would be better off buying 1X to 4X CDR disks, after all the Audio Players cannot play at any rates higher than that. Who needs a 16X or higher CDR disk?

New Easier said than done
the CD player is the on built into the car. My wife wants me to curb expenses so we can save up money in case we need it later, or to go to a visit to Thailand to see her mother before she has another heart attack or something else.

So much stuff I want to buy, but I have to put it off and make do with what I have for now.

So far the Silver Dye CDR seems to be working 100% of the time that I play it, the Blue Dye CDRs only work 10% to 30% of the time. Right now I am playing one of the Blue Dye CDRs on my PC as I write this, so I know that the disk is good.

New The "audio CD-Rs" are a marketing gimmick.
They are also the only ones that work in the consumer CD Recorder decks because the decks look for a special signature. They're more expensive ostensibly so that royalties for whatever you're going to copy can be paid.

If you're burning music on a PC, the "music CD-Rs" are a genuine waste of money.
