One of my favorite ironies
When a college has applications that are 80% white, but admissions are 90% white, this is taken (by some) as an indication that the admissions system is biased. But when 90%+ of the faculty is of a particular political leaning this is entirely reasonable. Granted we choose our political affilliation, not our race. I suspect (though admitedly without any corroborating evidence) that if I were to make this observation during the hiring process for new faculty it would not be well received by the majority.
