New Bush making cry for help?
Seems to fit the pattern of a [link|http://www.americanpolitics.com/20020924Bisbort.html|dry drunk].
"A civilian gang of thieving lobbyists for the military industrial complex is running the White House. If to be against them is considered unpatriotic -- Hell, then call me a traitor."
-- Hunter S. Thompson
New Since you raise the issue
-and I'll try to make this, -apart from the political implications-

I too lost a (half) brother to alcohol (though with him, as in most every case: for all the Reasons which led him to seek Something as an escape from __ and __ and __). I can verify certain of the 'symptoms' mentioned, though not those of the "recovered" aftermath. He didn't.

While the author is obviously biased against Bush, his present power and how he is managing it (as am I) -- I'd like to see his presented list of characteristics examined by someone less fixated on the Man.

There might be a lot to it - Bush's attention span is questionable, since we don't really know if his inability to carry an entire sentence (like his father) is something about "public speaking" or - reflects an underlying limited organization of thoughts. To me it is scary whatever the analysis or pseudo-analysis.

But given the press Corp ownership and all precedents: fat chance that these points shall be made except as politico-babble repartee. Perhaps to our overall tragedy.

(He'd *never* resign and the above is too near the gray area of pseudo-science)

New whats the obsession with likker?
FDR was always sucking on a pint of gin, Churchill was a reknowned punisher of brandy and Stalin drank like a fish and all were brilliant political leaders.Someone was snivelling about coke off a whores ass, more power to him if his coffee tables looked like that in his younger days. WC Fields was a brilliant man, Richard Burton the same. Now lets examine teetotallers. George Armstrong Custer, Jimmy Carter (great man but poor president) Osama bin Laden, Musharref and the rest of mahound's boys. One has nothing to do with the other. Either he is a brilliant ex drunk or a stupid man who used to be a drunk.

Nevertheless, some folks' livers and other organs - get/got permanently damaged. Liver alone.. means the body's ult. waste disposal is on the Fritz = they *are* 'full of shit', so-to-speak. It might...be possible to correlate certain later behaviour with such.

Hmmm.. more stuff for the DNA-Patrol to add to poll taxes.

New PAW
Post acute withdrawal syndrome, can last a couple of years. Bush should be over *that* by now. Who knows what other damage he did to himself whilst in his younger drinking (possibly snorting) daze.
The lawyers would mostly rather be what they are than get out of the way even if the cost was Hammerfall. - Jerry Pournelle

Society matron to WC:

"Sir, you are drunk!"

WC to matron:

"Yes, madam, I am drunk. And you are ugly. But tomorrow morning I shall be sober! And you shall still be ugly."

Matron to WC:

"Sir, if I was your wife, I'd poison your drink!"

WC to matron:

"And madam, if you were my wife, I'd drink it."

New Re: Bush making cry for help?
Very interesting. This was the fate I was warning one of our members to avoid.

I've thought from the beginning that Bush had serious emotional problems in addition to being dim. Not a happy combination.
