Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Yeah, but...
I have a nit with your post. Don't through out the baby with the bathwater... If I remember correctly, Get a Life, Married with Children and the Simpsons all were Fox babies... Some of my favorites and (most probably) not the favorites of the conservative right. Right? I don't think it's fair to "blame" Fox for "we the consumers" lust for the cops genre of real life sleaze. All of the majors have their COPS and RLS "reality" crap...

That said, I've seen Fox News and Bill O'Reilly (he is entertaining, at least in a Morton Downey Jr. sort of way) and agree entirely, that it's about as far right as one can get. Fair??? LMAO... It's just as fair and balanced as Rush Limbaugh...
Just a few thoughts,

As soon as you're born they make you feel small
By giving you no time instead of it all
Till the pain is so big you feel nothing at all

New Role of the Press
Americans have all but forgotten the essential role of a free and balanced press in democracy - and these people at Fox exploit it to the hilt. This man Murdoch is the second coming of Hearst and his yellow journalism.

It is just downright scary to watch all the elements of tyranny fall into place, one by one, with the complicity of the People. The scariest thing is that the proto-fascists actually believe in their nascent tyranny.

About the programming - I'm not being a prude and I certainly don't mean to imply that Fox is alone in promulgating bad taste. I do have a fundamental issue with justice as entertainment, including seemingly innocuous stuff like People's Court (can't help but like Marilyn Millian). I just find it typical of their hypocrisy.

New Nit
Americans have all but forgotten the essential role of a free and balanced press in democracy
The constitution doesn't say anything about balance. I tend to favor the argument that balance is best achieved by using multiple sources, in the hopes that their conflicting biases will become apparent, rather than expecting each outlet to be balanced.

The current incestuous family of big business ownership of major media in this country reduces the value of multiple sources, but the fact that Fox does stand out indicates the system is still (sort of) working.
