New Re: Windows 2000 Pro, lost my password
PS - just reinstall with Server, and turn everything off. Like ordering breakfast when it's not being served - order a fried egg sandwich, and ask them to bring the bread on the side.

New Hmmm
I got a Windows 2000 Pro disk at home, not the same as the one at work, but could I do a reinstall without losing my registry settings and just zap out the user login info?

New Re: Hmmm
I'm confused - what's to lose here? Since it's brand new, what's to worry about just starting over? Just start over.

PS - don't use NTFS(NG) unless W2K is the only OS.
-drl
New Interesting solution
[link|http://is-it-true.org/nt/atips/atips262.shtml|I found this page] interesting that it uses a Linux boot disk to recover a Windows 2000/NT password?

[link|http://games.speakeasy.net/data/files/khan.jpg|"Khan!!!" -Kirk]
New It works, it works!
Password recovered! Just one item if you are recovering a Windows 2000 System, do not disable Syskey, repeat, do not disable SysKey.

I am administrator now, as well as myself. W00t!

New Re: Hmmm
Of course, the other solution is WAIT TILL FUCKING MONDAY! Take the weekend off and enjoy it with your FUCKING OS DESTROYING SON!!! :)
-drl
New That was going to be my proposed solution. :-)
New He's had plenty of time for that...;-)
Let him be excited about his NEW JOB for a weekend.

Next weekend we bust on him for working overtime..I'm willing to give him one weekend free.
You were born...and so you're free...so Happy Birthday! Laurie Anderson

New I should talk
I'm packing two laptops this weekend. But

GO RAMS!
-drl
New Yes, that's what we said here in LA . .
. . and they finally went.

Now, if we could just peddle the Bums to somebody, we'd only have to subsidize the basketball team - but they don't cost that much and they win, so we'll probably let them stay for now.

Los Angeles - not exactly what you'd call a "sports town".

New Re: Yes, that's what we said here in LA . .
Hey! You've still got Jillian Barberi, the Fox Sports Football Weather Girl!

-drl
New Yup, girls we've got plenty of . . .
. . and they can all stay - even ones with no talent - we put them to work generating all this crap entertainment we export to everywhere.

Sure, everybody complains about it, but they keep paying for it, so we're not going to stop.

New Re: Yup, girls we've got plenty of . . .
Yeah, but I sure wouldn't kick her out of bed.
-drl
New Heh heh
I'm a computer geek, instead of surfing for porn on the weenend, I am instead installing software on my laptop. The closest I get to porn is those ads that pop up when I do a [link|http://www.astalavista.com|search] for a NT/W2K Password recovery solution. But Mozilla takes care of eliminating most of them, and I just close out the rest that get by Mozilla.

Yeah, I work an extra 10 hours a week, at home, with my laptop, installing software, etc.

I am trying to get Twiki to work on the Laptop using Apache 2.0, Cygwin, and ActivePerl. I hope I can show the boss how Twiki can be used to document stuff, etc.

New Now that's interesting
Now that you mention it, I haven't even looked at or for net porn for longer than I can remember.
New You call yourself a geek?
And you use Altavista?

Sheesh, hand in your card now. [link|http://www.google.com|Google] is where it's at, boyo... ;)
End of world rescheduled for day after tomorrow. Something should probably be done. Please advise.
New Not Altavista, but Astalavista
As in the "Security" Search Portal. Did you even visit my link? If you did, you'd see that it was not Altavista at all, the graphics alone should have given you a clue.

[link|http://games.speakeasy.net/data/files/khan.jpg|"Khan!!!" -Kirk]
New Gotta get my eyes checked...
...or move to a lower resolution.

I moused over the link, and in the status bar thought I saw "www.altavista.com" - but the font in that bottom bar is about 1/2 the size (9pt v.s. 12?) of the main body text.

Sigh.

Soon, don'tchaknowit, I'll have to run @ 640x480 again... :P

New Get an LCD
Soon, don'tchaknowit, I'll have to run @ 640x480 again.
You need an LCD. Not because they're so much easier on the eyes (though they are). But because you can then say you're simply running native resolution, and that happens to be 1280x1024.
