The Border Patrol has had the ability for years to lock people up indefinitely without access to counsel if they think that you are an illegal alien. (Since you have no access to the outside world, it doesn't matter if you are a US Citizen. Actually it does because they won't want the black eye of releasing you and possibly getting sued, so you are staying there.)
