It's the opposite - galactic hydrogen gas made visible by the presence of a local agglomeration of stars, probably clusters of very hot young stars emitting ultraviolet radiation, which ionizes the surrounding gas and causes it to fluoresce, like a pink neon light. In contrast, supernova remnants are more likely to shine by reflected light.
