Re: Accounting software for linux
No, MS Great Pains - er - Plains. It was already purchased when I arrived and I have no choice but to use it. One thing that's going to be a major headache is that the accountant has his fingers, mind, and soul welded to the DOS console interface. He ain't gonna like Winders.

...in which case...
...he's gonna fuckin' HATE Great Pains.
Yes, that's what we call it, too.

Hmmm hmmm hmmm, DOSEMU!
If it is a DOS program, get a copy of DOSEMU and then use FreeDOS or some other DOS clone to run inside of DOSEMU. Then he still will have the DOS Command Line, but under Linux using DOS emulation. No Windows required to run DOSEMU.

Play around with them at home first, see if it will run the DOS based accounting software. Then apt-get-install DOSEMU and FreeDOS on Linux at work.
I am free now, to choose my own destiny.

Get ready for .NET!
Microsoft has sent a bunch of its own programmers to beef up the staff at Microsoft Great Plains, all to get it rewritten in C# and on .NET as soon as possible.
Then the arm twisting will begin.
