According to the process server\ufffds sworn statement, the security officer said that \ufffdif I dropped them [the federal court summons and complaint], he would arrest me.\ufffd Is the VP above the federal court system?

Perhaps the Justice Dept. can borrow some Israeli special forces, and obtain access to our 'White House'. Gawd it's worse than SNL - makes their juvenile plots seem almost West Wing* by comparison with actual newsfotainment! * but wait.. Ashcroft is AG, so - Ashton I must be dreaming this - one of those waking-dream scenarios; it only seems as if it has been going on for months.. surely the body will get hungry soon and wake Me up. C'mon.

If he did, Johnson almost certainly didn't have authority to begin his military buildup without a heckuvalot more Congressional approval. And we know Nixon did quite a bit of trampling himself. Bush, and by association Reagan (although there's no hard proof) is thought to have been involved in the Iran-Contra deals. And on and on. Maybe Ford and Carter were the last two non-power grabbers? Ford, because he didn't last that long in office, Carter maybe? The lawyers would mostly rather be what they are than get out of the way even if the cost was Hammerfall. - Jerry Pournelle
