Not just tech writing, either; we have supposed open techie/programming positions unfilled, maybe because we were a wannabe dot.com company that (fortunately) didn't manage to issue any IPO's or stock or anything before the dot.com marketplace blew up.
To my knowledge, while there may be financial issues, they still have their head above water, and even if they sink and go under, I've got good references, am single and relatively mobile, and *someone* is going to have to support the software until/unless the customer get something else. And even then they could probably use me in converting data, keeping the old system running while they implemented the new system, etc.
