Definition: Capitalism.
"A socio-economic system in the last stages of decay."
The 21st century will vindicate Marx. No changes are possible until then. Murican capitalism is incapable and unworthy of saving.

No problemo but..
*Must* we take the entire planet with us.. sour nuclear grapes and all? (I think: We Must, such as we Are.)

Hmmm...
Suppose the other non-US nuclear nations got together and decided they had enough?
That'd be a good (non-?)fiction now wouldn't it?

Good one ;-)
But you know, unless you've got your commercial ticket, you can't let your passengers "pay for the gas", a Private Pilot has to "pay not less than a pro rata share" of the expenses for the flight ;-)

I don't go there.
Landing fees suck. My CFI was on final one time to the airstrip they used to have at one of the Playboy clubs. Somebody on UNICOM came on when he was about 10 feet of the deck and said, "You know there's a $20.00 landing fee here." My CFI firewalled the throttle and landed at a nearby non-fee airstrip, then got a free ride in a courtesy car to the club.
A man after my own heart ;-)

Well, I wouldn't say "vindicate Marx", but
I won't be surprised if events over the course of the decade wipe out our smugness about the collapse of the Soviet Union.
The mythology is breaking down. The current scandals of corporate fraud threaten the very roots of our culture. I pointed out several years ago that since you can no longer count on a quick, cheap burger served by a smiling McDonalds associate, our culture is dead and is simply taking a long time to fall down. If the crisis of faith isn't handled with exquisite finesse, we are going to find out just how much foundation there is under the house of cards.

Divided we dominate the planet without really trying

goto North Carolina
OK so quick isnt part of the culture but in most cases a Mickey D hamburger looks as good as the picture. Unlike the cold fast hockey pucks served in the Yankee Mcdonalds. thanx, bill

Who eats McDonald's in North Carolina?
With all that good barbecue down there you've gotta be outta yer mind to eat a grease-burger from Ronald's house.

As Joseph Campbell mentioned about a thousand times..
When a society has left.. no viable mythos for the times in which one lives - it dies. Our myths are either antediluvian from the Brute Ages or they are Financial-oriented recipes for getting More than Your 'share' via taking from others [in Our case: from the entire planet] - as much as you can get away with, short of actual incarceration.
So when we become Brutes to match our antiquated Puritan roots [??]
I tend to think of 1968 as a K-watershed - the third of the assassinations in sequence; JFK, MLK, RFK (while the KKK mindset remained suffused in the retarded brainpans of multitudes). It's still around, too.
As Bill the Cat wisely observes..
AcckkKKK - phfffft!
Methinks that nothing short of an Epiphany can resurrect any semblance of Honorable Life\ufffd in these parts (that personal meaning... in millions of different heads - not some cockamamie 'Absolute Honor' concept, of course).
