New Thai support in Linux?
Trying to help a friend here -- my two minute Google search turned up the [link|http://new.linuxnow.com/docs/content/Thai-HOWTO-html/Thai-HOWTO-4.html|Linux Thai HOWTO], which apparently isn't much help. Thought that Doug Marker might have some experience w/ Asian language support in general. Any good tips or resources out there? Preferably in English...though Thailish is acceptable.

New Thai Mozilla
Unfortunatly the Thai lanmguage in Mozilla is way way behind the other ones. M14 being the most recent Mozilla that has Thai support:

New ya, but....
...it's only on Windoze - no Linux support
New Thai fonts
Sometimes on Windows it is possible to use a special Thai font to get the Thai character set:

[link|http://www.inet.co.th/www/thai/thai_font.html|[link|http://www.inet.co.th/www/thai/thai_font.html|http://www.inet.co....ai_font.html]]

I imagine that if the font is translated to whatever Linux handles, that it might work there as well?

Or:

To make X window application displays Thai font, you should run the application with -fn option. For example,

%xedit -fn thai8x16

Note that thai8x16 is just a one of Thai font names. You can see all available fonts by command xlfonts. If you don't want to fill -fn option every time you run application. You should set Thai font in your ~/.Xdefaults or ~/.Xresources like this
XTerm*font: thai8x16

I imagine this changes the default font to the Thai font to trick X into using the Thai Font?

Linux or Unix Thai Fonts:

Not real Thai language support, but the Font should be able to display Thai characters.
