New Youtube economics
Presenters don't get paid unless their videos are at least 9 minutes and they get a certain number of views. Therefore, any video less than that time is a gift because the presenter is not being paid.

This guy's got over a million subscribers and he gets a shitload of views. Yes, he can be annoying. We are old and we realize our time is more valuable. I fast forward through 90% of the YouTube videos that are presented to me. I pause when the text on the screen changes when they're presenting something and then I quickly read it. Maybe I'll listen to them comment or maybe I'll move on to the next segment. Most 12 minutes videos take me about 2 and 1/2 minutes and then I move on.

I'm doing this all with my remote control on a 14-ft screen.

Hopefully this advice did not take you too long to read to understand how to correctly use the internet.

Hehe
New Also, here's the kid on economics
https://youtu.be/x-9vP2d1Wjg?si=w6KYWVf76RGCNZOL

I love how he sets up the video and says let's go listen to the German vice Chancellor.

Let's listen to the German vice Chancellor. This kid is a the Superstar of his generation for newscasting.

And there's more. There is the next generation of information presenters that aren't just those silly little YouTube presenters of dances and songs. This kid gives me hope.

How long until YouTube cuts him off?

Edit: this one gave enough assorted material that it kept me interested without fast forwarding for more than about 10 seconds. Semi-controlled, ADHD is good to have when I recognize how to make best use of it.

New On the other hand, we have Belle
She's amazing. She explains the world from the rancher viewpoint. She's sweet and she's kind and she's never insulting. She always ends with: It's just a thought

As if she's used to arguing with idiots and she knows that they discount 99% of what that she says and she always ends with the possibility that she's full of shit. Just to keep them happy in their default sexist demeaning of women who talk.

And her syrupy sweet Southern accent is wonderful. I find myself speaking in it by default after listening to her for a bit.

https://youtu.be/xRSIgRNhkcQ?si=s7BH17Iet02EBeF-

She rarely goes up more than 6 minutes. She can't be getting paid. She's doing because she believes in it.
New She inherited both the ending and the "Howdy there, Internet people" greeting...
...from (I assume) her husband, Beau, who presented the channel -- which used to be called "Beau of the 5th Brigade" (or "5th Column"?) -- for years until last summer / autumn some time. Had a burnout, which feels understandable given the subject matter. Though I suspect he still does much of the research and writing. He also had the same unflappable down-to-earth calm and friendly tone.

I'm not so sure about how much of their viewpoint is "rancher", though: At least he has a background as a writer or reporter in (national?) mainstream media, I think somewhere up Northeast -- he talked (or wrote somewhere?) about how he'd adopted a "standard" accent to conceal his "redneck" origins.

This seems to be the [EDIT]second-[\EDIT]last video he presented (at least, the [EDIT]second-[\EDIT]last that's still listed): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OP6VJb2Snzg . Posted eight months ago. [EDIT] Oops, no, this one is a little later: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWyPPw6vv8M . His farewell to the viewers. (The one thing that drove me nuts about him was the T-shirts he wore, often with funny political slogans on them -- but he usually stood so you couldn't see the punchline. Only sometimes, when he rocked back on his feet a bit, could you catch what was below his upper chest. In my more conspiracy-theoretical moments I still sometimes wonder if he did it on purpose. Sure worked as an incentive to keep watching, "Will I catch the whole shirt this time". Probably not, though.) [\EDIT]

Not that I think "Beau" and "Belle" are their real names, at least not both; feels like a little too much of a coincidence.
