I have not seen this in any news on the US side. Russia is keeping quiet about it.

Iran transports weapons through the Russian base going to Hezbollah and others. They've had this deal for years.

Russia got to set up a base and does anything it wants there and occasionally bombs people on command from Assad.

A large Iranian plane touched down and unloaded and left a couple hours before the bombing.

Russia has been happily supplying the weapons to various anti-israel groups for years. There is no concept of Israel being friends with either.

Iran and Russia would be at each other's throats if they didn't have their backs to each other while facing the rest of the world, most of which would like to see them go away.

It all comes down to whatever tribe they are associated with.

If one of the two sides fighting aren't their tribe, they will push for isolationism from a political/cost perspective. They don't really care, they were just enjoying the entertainment. Let them fight it out without foreign money supplied.

There will be no cognitive dissonance there because they can choose to ignore it
