New Android on Pixel stole a picture from me to advertise to me
I don't have backup turned on on my phone. I accept that none of my pictures will ever be backed up. That's okay. None of my pictures should ever end up on the cloud.

Simple enough?

My phone just asked me if I remember a particular day around 4 years ago and presented a picture to me and called it a memory.

Except that picture is not on this phone. It hasn't been on my last two phones. It is a picture that I took that I never uploaded or had backed up in any way to Google. Yet my phone just used that picture in an advertisement to me to try to get me to turn backups on.

Someone's lying somewhere.

New Google scrapes everything on your phone
This is my surprised face. Look how surprised I am.

Golly gosh! I’m so surprised.

ETA: That picture touched a Google service at some point. And got inhaled.
