I have a 2-year-old pixel. I typically get Android releases before other phones so I don't know if other Android people have it, but you should get it soon enough.
There is a bar drawn on the bottom of my screen. Typically it's a sweep point to sweep up which then shows me the screen that chooses between the active windows.
The new feature is a search feature associated with it. Rather than sweep up, press the bar for a second or so. At that point the search window comes up.
The current screen is still there. At that point you can circle something or draw a line through it and it will initiate a Google search. The key issue is this works on graphics. So the situation of retyping into a search box whatever the graphics are showing you goes away. It can also use this feature to search for pictures.
I like it.
