New I am a trampoline for this cat
Cats run at about 30 miles an hour. It weighs about 10 lb right now. Pure muscle and still growing.

According to the following:

The impact to your body in a crash is called crash force. Crash force is equal to your body weight multiplied by the speed of the vehicle. If you hold your child while riding in a vehicle, you could crush the child during a crash. In a 30 mph crash, a 100 pound adult becomes a 3,000 pound force against the child.

So based on that, this 10 lb cat hits me at force of approximately 300 lb. Is that reasonable? I know it hits hard.

The cat does not differentiate between me and the furniture when it has the zoomies. And sometimes it's chasing the older cat. So as they bounce around the floor and the walls they slam on to me one after another. The first one, the older one, recognizes that it shouldn't land on me and will almost always choose spots between my legs or on the arms of the chair. Luna doesn't give a s***. S***. Luna slams me in the gut and launches hard to continue the chase.

Good thing he does not have his claws out at that moment. At least he recognizes that would be bad.
New No, it's not the cat speed but how quickly it decerates to your speed that defines the force.

"There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that "my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge."

-- Isaac Asimov
New When it lands I'm sure it absorbs most of the force in its legs
Which it then uses to press against me and launch on it the next leg of its journey.

Update on cat:

Grew up a big and strong. Carbon copy in looks with the other cat but 4 lb heavier and still growing. The most snugliest cat I've ever had. It runs up my leg to my belly to my chest and slams its head on my jaw to get my head out of the way so it can shove its head into my neck and start sucking on my neck or my earlobe. Purring ferociously the whole time.
New Springy-leg action takes time, spreading the kinetic energy out as less force over more time.
