New “London Bridge is down”
The monarch’s health is in the headlines today. This informative Guardian piece from five years ago describes in detail the events that will be put in train following the flatline.

It will be odd even for this rude colonial septuagenarian to enter the post-Elizabethan era (I’m thinking, incidentally, that her successor will style himself George VII rather than Charles III*), since, like everyone else here with the exception of Alex and Ashton, I cannot remember any earlier reign. What think you, Peter W?

cordially,

*EDIT The Guardian says “Charles,” and I assume that they’re better positioned in points of nomenclature than I am.

New The Queen is dead, all hail the King.
Not my monarch but I'm sad to see her go.

Ships were made for sinking, whiskey made for drinking. If we were made of cellophane we'd all get stinking drunk quite faster! Ah, ha, ha!
