Videos that are much more enjoyable without soundtracks
Reasons to have a mute button:
Peter Gabriel: Sledgehammer Most Madonna videos Anything with Britney Spears

That's easy. Any porno movie you've ever watched.
Because the soundtracks are so horribly dubbed in.

He said Britney Spears already, didn't he?
Wouldn't "porno" be pretty much redundant?

LOL!
No, I was referring to hard core porn.
Unless Brittney's been shooting video with penetration and swallowing shots, it ain't porn, pal. Anything less is bullshit.
And if she has, where do I get it and why are you holding out on me? ;-)
Yes, I'm a disgusting slob. So what?

Nah
Michael Bolton is revolting whether you've got a mute button or not.
Actually, the Grand Age of Music Video has long since passed. The multi-million dollar Michael Jackson video or reasonably sexy but still melodius Madonna video or even the Hall and Oates videos are long gone. No network Friday night videos, even MTV seems to show mostly other stuff nowdays. And what there is usually seems to be absolutely miserable acid rock of some sort that's worse than listening to them drag their fingernails along a chalkboard.

Old fart?
Anyone old enough to remember when MTV wasn't crap is an old fart? That's a slight stretch. Very slight.

I can still get Friday night music videos.

OTOH, I do agree that MTV need to reliquish their name to a new channel that really is Music Television.

It's from Terry Pratchett's "Thief of Time".

Ah. Haven't got to that one yet.
Heinlein's character Friday stated that she would answer easy questions immediately, harder one's tomorrow. Answered question about number of angels sitting on the head of a pin immediately with "get area of pin, area of the angel's arses, do the math". Other questions answered similarly. When asked the population of a given city, she responded "Ah, one of the difficult questions. I will report tomorrow."

I was quoting Lu-Tze.
Lu-Tze is a history monk who first appeared IIRC in Small Gods. In Thief of Time, he gets co-opted into teaching a most unusual acolyte who has a singular characteristic I won't spoil for you. Lu-Tze is a bit of a caricature of stereotypical eastern martial arts masters, BTW. His acolyte, of course, doesn't quite understand Lu-Tze's approach and often asks questions. But then, when asked what he would like for breakfast, Lu-Tze would tend to answer with "Ah. One of the difficult questions". :-) Especially after a few minutes of meta-physics discussion.

I don't get cable
I see that's an ABC channel - ABC broadcast here has news and stuff like that during that timeframe.

Really!
This drives me nuts. You go to MTV and get a real world situational show. You go to CNN and they're not showing news. You go to the weather channel and they're showing a documentary about a bad snow storm.

Re: Really!
At least, in the examples you gave, the weather channel was being at least a little on subject. :)
