Then some folks who were grounded in the community organizer and evangelical pantheon started noticing that their reach and returns were much greater than before due to the massive presence of social media.

The lobbyists quickly took notice and plotted (often badly) to leverage that for their clientele.

Smart and Venal people sat up and took notice and started spawning corner case crusade from the issues of the day.

These butt hurt specialists from all points of the political spectrum use social networking to leverage coverage and donations in rapidly expanding pools of influence, the Canadian Truck Protests comes to mind.
the truckers have a legitimate grievance, until recently they were indispensable workers so could travel where and as needed across the US border in both directions. Both countries changed the rules very recently.
Using the socials, organizers started hauling in money hand over fist and started agitating for a total tear down of the Canadian Pandemic rules.
I don't care, I dont live there but the organizers are taking in huge chunks of American money and plan on extending their crusade to here.

So if you want to make a ton of cash, find a niche cause, own it and leverage media and other exposure into one of the new cash machines of the 2020's economic boom.
