I had just finished adding a short section on Astrolgy to my Paganism page (over 500 page views again this month), and decided I wanted to add a short section on the "subtle bodies".
Unfortunately, my knowledge is too narrow and too shallow, covering only fragments of some up-to-date Western ideas and a little from India. This is not sufficient for concepts that are of major importance to every religion and most philosophies over the entire world. So, I needed a book.
So I did a quick scan on Amazon for something. I found one titled "The Subtle Energy Body - the complete guide" by one Maureen Lockhart Ph.D. It claimed to cover concepts worldwide.
"So, an academic - perhaps it will be a bit shallow, but a quick worldwide survey is what I need."
The book arrived today.
Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
It's an oversize book, 8-1/2 x 11, over 350 pages. Over 350 pages of unrelieved text, with narrow margins and small type - and, she says right up front, "no scanning - read it through from front to back or you'll miss too much stuff".
An academic? yes, and a Scott too - but written from an entire lifetime of full immersion in the subject matter - including many years as a yoga teacher in India.
And the quality of the writing is very good indeed. This is going to really take some time.
As I said, "Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!"
