All the specs for what I ordered match, but the package says "Made for Mac". And it doesn't work. Is there actually a difference, or did I just get a bad stick?
Is there a difference between PC and Mac SODIMMs?

Bummer.
I don't think that there's much of a difference, but if you go to Crucial.com the Mac part numbers are often slightly different than PC numbers. But there's such a huge variety that it's hard to know. https://smallbusiness.chron.com/differences-ram-macbook-pc-70947.html Make sure it's fully seated. Otherwise, it should Just Workâ˘. Good luck! Yep!
If the new chip needs different timing from what had been set up and none of the old chips remain plugged in, then the BIOS set up could be changed to match the new chip(s). I remember helping my frustrated son-in-law in exactly that kind of situation. Alex "There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that "my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge." -- Isaac Asimov |
