The Republicans obviously want to keep what they got and make sure no one else gets anymore

no they want access to the trough via construction contracts, finance schemes etc

that spending creates jobs, someone needs to do data entry and swing a shovel

Democrats want access to the same trough via social spending schemes, checks for the poor supported by hugely inflated profitable non profits.

However the republicans of late championed by trump have become the home of the nasty bigots and holier rollers not the home of the pragmatic.
