I went today because the polling place is at the end of my street, less than a quarter-mile away. I've never seen a line for any election. My wife went at about 8 this morning and waited in line about 20 minutes before she got to the door, then about 5 minutes once she was in. I just came back and there was no line. I walked right in, one person ahead of me to sign in and receive a ballot, 2 minutes to fill it in, no line at the scanners.
And by the way, this is absolutely the right system: Paper ballots, scan them, keep the originals. Instant tabulation and a paper trail.
