Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Hopeful anecdote.
The wife and I voted this morning. I've been voting in the same place at roughly the same time for twenty years. The population is fairly static (this is Indiana, after all. Who'd come here that didn't have to?). Anyway, the biggest turn out I saw was in 2008, when Obama became the first Democrat since LBJ to carry Indiana in the GE. This morning hardly anyone was there. If reports are true that most Democrats voted by mail or in-person early, this could be taken as a good sign. Maybe the Republican turn out is going to be depressed?

It's mourning in America again.
New Large turnouts tend not to favour the incumbent
irrespective of the political flavours in play.

People just don't turn out in droves to get more of the same.

At least, that's what used to be true.

We live in bizarro world now, so who knows?
New Not sure that applies here.
In 2008 there was no incumbent. Moreover, fewer people voting in Indiana means, by definition, fewer Republican votes. I'm not delusional enough to think Trump is not going to carry this state by 10-15 points or more, but if these dyed in the wool, fire breathing MAGAts aren't showing up, maybe Republicans elsewhere won't?

Don't destroy all my pleasant delusions, please, or I'll start talking about the twenty year reign of Boris et al. And will you *please* take Nigel back? What the hell is he doing here anyway? We've got more than our fair share of Nigels.

Mikem

New I might go take a ride past my polling place
We voted absentee weeks ago.

We're in Macomb County, considered a bellweather, so if it's light here that could be a good sign.

Welcome to Rivendell, Mr. Anderson.
New There were lines at our location when the wife voted this morning
I've never seen lines there. Should be pretty blue, so ... yay, I guess.

I slipped him a fin... on porpoise. I was feeling good. I even dropped a sanddollar in the box for Jerry's squids, for the halibut.
