2020 was a bad year healthwise for me but now adding insult to injury
I have blown my left shoulder rotator cuff, doc is sending me to a cutter. So my question is does anyone here have experience of that surgery and recovery issues?

Sorry to hear--amidst all the other blights.
Maybe a second opinion? with -/+'s of cutting -vs- alternatives covered, with enough facts. ie White-coats with a specialty ..oft seem a lot like, "if a hammer is all you have", etc.
Luck..

Yup
I had rotator cuff and labrum at the same time, so yours should go faster, but still expect it to take a while.
You'll have your arm strapped up tight for several weeks so the repair can heal. By the time you can let that down, your muscles will be completely contracted and stiff. Most of the rehab is going to be regaining range of motion from the immobilization.
I don't know how you respond to pain meds but for me the Oxy didn't touch the pain. I didn't know that on the first night though and told the wife to hide them from me before I went and took the whole bottle.

Oxy never stops pain, it only makes you not care that you are hurting
I am very tuned into the minimum I can take and still be functional so I should be good there. Considering all of the other joints I have that act like I am being stabbed with knitting needles I should be OK. So strapped immobile is going to be fun, that is my dominent hand. Baths instead of showers I take it?

Oh, I cared
Yeah, sponge baths for 2, maybe 3 weeks. That first shower felt so good.
I bought a couple hoodies, and a bunch of 2XL tank tops so I could get the arm through the hole without straightening it out. Make sure you get something under your armpit so it's not skin-on-skin.

quackopractice
so I make the appt with the shoulder specialist who called me because of a physicians referral. Over the phone I state I have had xrays and mri done by an in network service that they have access to. Go to appt. Told they may need an xray Mentioned at checking I have had xray and mri at *** facility nurse asks what happened "dislocated shoulder 30 years ago, was mounting an over head AC unit in my rv Pain lasted for a month. Went to regular DR. was given an xray and MRI. Reg Doc stated that my MRI was awful referred to you guys"
PFY shows up next, no mask wants to shake hands, no joy. He asks how did it happen "dislocated shoulder 30 years ago, was mounting an over head AC unit in my rv Pain lasted for a month. Went to regular DR. was given an xray and MRI. Reg Doc stated that my MRI was awful referred to you guys" He goes ok wait one an xray tech showed up to take xrays I mentioned that "Went to regular DR. was given an xray and MRI. Reg Doc stated that my MRI was awful referred to you guys" she shrugs and states they want an xray PFY shows up again, well your xray doesnt show anything so it is probably blah, with a steroid shot you should be fine. I mentioned AGAIN!!! that "Went to regular DR. was given an xray and MRI. Reg Doc stated that my MRI was awful referred to you guys" He goes oh, disappears for 30 seconds. I KNOW that the access to the pics is about two minutes whether inside the website already or outside the website to navigate to the pics because I also have access. He then shows back and states that I have a small ligament tear and the doc will see me soon. The Doc shows up and states that most of these heal by themselves so a steroid shot and some time and physical therapy will work. By then he had time to actually maybe look at the MRI but I dont trust them as far as I can throw them with my bad arm. So took the shot because I am not a fan of surgery anyway, will definitely look for a different ortho cutter if it gets worse and will hand carry the physician report and the actual mri results to the appt of whowever I choose next.

Getting your MRI films yourself and caring them with you is always a good idea.
I did that back 2008 when I went to see the ortho for my back he ended up cutting on. Saved a lot of time.

Keep close tabs on it
The injection has two components. One is an short term (couple of days) anesthetic to calm things down to give the long term steroid a chance to do its work. It can lead to a false sense of improvement.
