I went and checked a bunch of reviews after I watched it with Thing #3 to see if I was just being too critical.
It's got a bunch of bad reviews, but none that really talk about how bad the music was. Which is real a problem when even the positive reviews say the only good thing about it is the music.
Most of the covers were cut up into mega-medleys, or had their lyrics changed to reference the plot, or both. But that wasn't the worst.
The whole plot centers on the queen of rock stomping out all other musical styles, but all the rock covers sound like poppy remakes. They seem to think if it's got a guitar it's rock, which in fairness most kids under 20 already believe. Funk didn't get treated much better.
