New Ready.. FIRE!! ... ... Aim
Sorry-so-BIG: I no jpeg edit paraphernalia to hand. Maybe no 'comments' here, next: start new thread if so inclined?

The Super-HV-lines in area: were-NOT killed ... ... doubtless because the long-range black-outs would have made this clusterfuck about (10X==a w. a. g.) as present, re sheer numbers of NO POWER-for unpredictable days/not hours.

(Still have Watts here), but.. tomorrow.. Sat. --- well you [don't] know..

Inner electrician asks: W.T.F. are-not all Super-HV lines insulated with Teflon [fluorocarbon] baked on and in???
Sure, a Redwood tree burning like *above would yank the entire wire-skein off insulators, etc.

* this pic illustrates exactly what the Mega-fire enviro is: healthy (thus wet-inside) trees so super-heated as to immediately turn into a canddle LIKE THIS [cf. the several NOVA and other treatments, lab. data etc.] SO of course: there's no "extinguishing" -within- such a holocaust; save people, doxe breaks and .. yada yada.

P r o c r a s t i n a t i o n ... KILLZ a feckless 'society' q.e.d. How About! them Red Sox! ..with/pron too.. Live! them daily distractions and fantasies until.. .......

Poor feckless PG&E..as Politicians next open all remarks, "WHY didn't you ___? and ___???" [NOT: why didn't We..? Make You--as a "Utility"--DO THAT?] Amirite? Jack.
New Truly horrifying. :0(
bcnu,
Mikem

It's mourning in America again.
New PG&E
Pacific Gas and Electric, for a very long time, knowingly skimped on maintenance and upgrades for their power grid in order to divert the cash to executive bonuses and shareholder profits (all their execs are probably shareholders).

In addition, their grid has not been designed to isolate danger areas of limited scope. Since they can only shut down very large areas, this makes a whole lot of people very pissed off at them, which brings political problems.

PG&E is between a rock and a hard place, both of their own making.

I predict extra large bonuses for PG&E executives this year to cover "emotional stress".
New Indeed; I plan to research the 'Teflon' matter re esp. corona but also
mechanical /dropping tree-limb forces (beneath some F=MA limit of strength of coating, fragility of cables themselves). And like that.
New Keep in mind . . .
. . teflon starts to fail at around 500°F, way lower than any forest fire temperature. Also keep in mind that it is banned from use on our submarines and other enclosed environments because the fumes are highly toxic. A simple short circuit can easily cause a wire to heat far above its outgassing temperature.
New Yes, I'm talking coaxial here..
The outer material 'insulation' must resemble the techniques used in space *re-entry; the Teflon™ features its ability to adhere at (the expected temp-gradient of a brief encounter with passing greenery/or a falling [right-sized if you're lucky] branch.
* the ablative mixes used on descending space capsules seems to be ~square-one; it's still cheaper than ..2017 to now. Looking..

Nothing can protect against an inferno right under the cable, of course. Undergrounding is a mare's nest. Unacceptable is:
the present flailing about on a 'net' whose switching/routing-inflexibility is the most visible culprit.
New Image size.
Throw a 'width=500' in the img tag.
Regards,
-scott
Welcome to Rivendell, Mr. Anderson.
New Prefer width=80%

New As to parsing..
[img src=["addy"][space][width=80%] There, likely; or at first?
Googled src drill, after noting: It's Too Hyarge.
Got Windoze-grade hints but not even a link for "Want more Specifics": Mr. Tech-syntax-illiterate

w3schools has no linkie Example; that spot says "sizes" (but it has Ex. for other Attribs!) Jeez tech-"writers".. ...
"width=" states pixels as 'Value' ..then redundantly explains what WIDTH-means, as-in-Duh.
So I guess the un-named Attrib-notation for width is (1) specific-numeral OR (2) % can be grokked as well.
No reply requested if "put the sucker [width=80%] a space AFTER the addy-info.

Sorry, but Sheesh! amateur 'explainers' ..taught Reading via ... elves??
(Listening to program of just How it is that "sounding out individual parts of words" got dropped): to pander to
the 2019 Freshman's low attention span and other ... blank-spots in listening, thence on to --> Perception.
New De-select "Process WeeCodes", select "Convert HTML", and use...
...either of these snippets:

<img src="https://s.hdnux.com/photos/0/0/0/18493110/3/2880x0.jpg" width=500>

<img src="https://s.hdnux.com/photos/0/0/0/18493110/3/2880x0.jpg" width=80%>

(View this post on its own; if viewing the whole thread including your humongo-pic, your browser viewport will be set to humongo-wide -- and 80% of that will be pretty humongous too.)

Apologies re {shun}--on That particular topic of, Greta.

Simply, I cannot comprehend your ire [???] re the FACT of her existence, notoriety (now) and for me, the utterly unDeniable effect her ministrations are having on Target One: All those world-wide living under the thrall of patently bogus propaganda by Big-Oil + Billionaires, corrupt-Politicians. Is it not clear that, as so many have succumbed to the confusion of "alt-facts", These Folks absolutely NEED to hear her message?--made as fluff-free and simple as possible. Also, repetitively: considering the shortened attention-span of the millions.

That is all.
