Eh, don't sweat it.
I may come across as a Nice Guy(tm) but I can be a right bastard when it comes down to it. Ask anybody I used to go up against at the 'ol LARP crew I used to hang out with about 'That Guy With The Big Bloody Spear...'

If that's what you want, good luck!
But why do I feel it's Plan B?

Actually, it's plan C...
...and it's undergone a bit of a transform.
The physical requirements for a firefighter position are so Up There that I'm not going to meet them this year - but the Police Officer/Corrections Officer position physical requirements are right up my alley. Considering that the STARTING wage for a PO/CO is $3500/month + EXCELLENT benefits, and that goes up to $4500 one year later, NOT counting overtime (as much as you want!), it's a racket I can't afford to miss out on.
Actually, I'm aiming for Corrections - much safer, and the pay's about the same. My sister-in-law's husband is a CO at the Kent Regional Justice Center, and he's described his night shift as roughly 3 minutes of patrol every hour, with 57 minutes of "feet-on-desk" time, doing whatever he wants.
Me? I'll take that time to write that game I've always wanted to...

I'll take that time to write that game I've always wanted to...
I'll bet I know what the map is going to look like.

As far as a CO goes
Do your 20 years in the Jail and retire. Think I would rather be patrol working up into Forensics. Prolly would end up as a crooked vice cop though :( thanx, bill

25 years.
They are under the "80 rule" right now - When your age+# years worked = 80, you get FULL retirement benefits.
One guy's pulling in $80k/year in retirement. Wow.

I guess that means that...
If I am going to break that law, now I know where to do it. :-)

In a troubled world, versatility is a decided asset, though
going from one Evil Empire into another only slightly more organized -- isn't all That much of a stretch, now is it? And both of those Empires can benefit from the occasional presence of common sense, whatever their Rulez say to the contrary.

Besides...
...we don't get to beat the prisoners any more.
Oops, did I say that out loud? :)
