I well remember this style of cover art from the fifties through at least the early seventies, when I was beginning to accumulate my own library—I probably retain a dozen or twenty exemplary titles in the collection—without hitherto thinking of it as a “school.” One Henning M. Lederer has taken a hundred or so specimens and, so to say, admirably brought them to life. My eldest nephew, a Cambridge-based architect, kindly summoned my attention to these.
