Yup.
I made the deal with the devil.
I looked at my kids, and thought, it
it REALLY worth it to get fired over sandals?
During a peaking economy, it wouldn't have
mattered. I'd get another job in a few weeks.
But now, it is too dangerous.
So I wear almost real shoes (lots of
ventilation), and get dressed up for
client meetings.
I've made a point to be replacable. Being
promotable also means being fireable. It
goes both ways. And while I may perform
SO well that it would be foolish to fire
me over dress, it still may make business
sense if I am a bad example. And in
this case, a bad example is someone that
others point to and say: Why should I
listen to you (the boss), he doesn't (me).
Of course, I still take the shoes off and
walk around in my socks!
