Back to the, euh ... the roots?
My place of employ for the past 10 years has unfortunately switched from slow decline to circling the drain. Sadly, because I had a lot of fun and it was a great group of people. So, for the past 15 months, it's been a slog to find other gainful employment before I got to walk the plank.
As of today, I'm a Natural/Adabas developer on IBM S/390. The last time I touched something similar was an S/36, back in school in ~1988. (Going through the "JCL for dummies" guide, it starts off mentioning the efforts to mitigate Y2K and proceeds to compare it to popular PC operating systems such as Windows 95... Uh-oh...)
But it comes with a .gov e-mail addy :-)

Whoa, that's another kind of root! :)
My last time on an IBM system as a contractor was in 2000. When that work died, I retired.
Are you still near Burlington?

Re: Whoa, that's another kind of root! :)
We haven't budged. (One of the reasons it took so long. Small towns are cute but there are certain disadvantages, even if one is the state capital...) We're in Middlesex, about 40 mi. from Burlington.

That's good to know.
My wife and I will be camping near Braintree, VT roughly 35 miles South of you the later part of next week. We are camping with a group that has the same kind of motor home as we do, but perhaps we can work out a meeting. The last email address I have for you is @compaqnet.be. I'm guessing it's obsolete. If you know my last name, @yahoo.com can get to me. If not, I'll have to provide it in an obscure way.

That'd be interesting. I'm not sure what we have going on next weekend. (I'm picking up Mom at Logan tomorrow.) I'll see if we can sort that out this evening.
The @compaqnet.be address is still active.

Contact!
Sven and his mother had lunch with my wife and me today. It was great to meet another long term IWeThey member.
Thanks, Sven, for driving down to meet us!

Thanks, updated my notes.
We did swing by there in 2017 on way to Utah's 5 national parks.

Greg was, though. As well Boxley. But I think you'd come to a couple.
You the one who gave me an IWeThey hat, right?
Wade.

It was disgusting. So was Box's seal blubber, but goddamn it I ate it anyway.

Ditto, but didn't think it was that bad.
Box's blubber offering was really OK.
But then, when I was a kid in the refuge camp in Germany, I got to eat salted (pork) fat back. Imagine eating raw bacon for an idea. In cold places the body "burns" that stuff to keep warm.

I did give out a few IWeThey hats over the years.
My wife was into machine embroidery then. Even sent a hat to Arkadiy whom I never did meet.
You were an honored guest at Beep's and had your own room. Box and I spent the first night in a tent and the second night in the basement with the "fly over country" contingent.
But, there were so many other folks attending that it's hard to keep score. Remembering two new people a day has been my limit.
