New Peter Jennings doesn't like patriotism on the 4th of July
[link|http://www.usatoday.com/life/music/2002/2002-06-13-toby-keith.htm|Jennings Vetos Patriotic Song]

Jennings is offended by a song that says mess with us and we'll kick your butt? I bet if Joan Baez had been asked to perform a song that glorified the terrorists and their attacks on the US, he would love that.

Brian Bronson

New Well, I can only hope that Jennings
"Sticks to his 'Guns'" - to misuse the metaphor YAN time.

Yup - that's what the World needs a lot next:

One more jingoistig Anger-song, to get the troops all ready for Iraq, and whatever's left of Karachi / Pakistan-all-over. maybe Iran too. US against the World. Coming at your fav theatre News Reel, reel soon.

I thought Jennings' 9/11 coverage was the sanest and least maudlin of the bunch I sampled. I'll second his editing on This teapot tempest too. The man has cuth. Don't think ya need to be Canadian to have cuth, but in matters of rampant kick-ass jingoism:

Couldn't hoit.

New Re: Jennings' 9/11 coverage was the sanest and least maudlin
That's cuz he ain't from around here. He's Canadian!
New Your "patriotic" is his "stupidly jingoistic"
Frankly, knowing neither you nor him all that well... *But* -- knowing what passes for "patriotic" in the USA nowadays (even before Sept. 11, 2001; but, of course, much much worse since then)... I'd be inclined to accept his take on it over yours.

In case you're wondering.
   Christian R. Conrad
Of course, who am I to point fingers? I'm in the "Information Technology" business, prima facia evidence that there's bats in the bell tower.

New Don't know about this song
But not every patriotic song is jingoistic. Knowing Peter Jennings, he's far more likely to view them with disfavor than many.
Famous last RPG quotes: "I'll just shoot this fireball down the dungeon passageway..."
