New Short-Time Contracts
Geez, all I can get on interviews are for 2 month contracts. I guess it is better than nothing, but so far, no results.

I am free now, to choose my own destiny.
New Two months
here, two months there - pretty soon you are talking about a real job...

*smile*

Imric's Tips for Living
  • Paranoia Is a Survival Trait
  • Pessimists are never disappointed - but sometimes, if they are very lucky, they can be pleasantly surprised...
  • Even though everyone is out to get you, it doesn't matter unless you let them win.
New Hint...
Word has it that many companies are using 2-3 month
contracts to see whether they like you and if you are
productive enough for them to keep around. If not,
there is no major commitment for them. If so, you get
offered a long term contract/perm arrangement after
the 2-3 months.

I have 2 friends right now who are working on 3 month
contract arrangements with the promise of being offered
something long term if all goes well. Kinda like a probationary
period. It also lets companies cut quickly if revenues decline.

Go for the contract work....then....knock their socks off! :)

Best of luck!
New Agreed
Also temp agencies. Lots of employers will bring people in from temp agencies to try them out before hiring them on.

I've gotten 3 jobs that way. :)

New That's how I started
First gig out of the military was two weeks. I was there for two years.

Microsoft offers them the one thing most business people will pay any price for - the ability to say "we had no choice - everyone's doing it that way." -- [link|http://z.iwethey.org/forums/render/content/show?contentid=38978|Andrew Grygus]

New Watch out for black-hole paychecks
Many smaller agencies try to flake with the last paycheck or two. Some are blatant, some use some vague excuse. Avoid late timesheets or *anything* that can give them an excuse to hold back paychecks.
