Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Not bad. But nothing beats when a phb is taken out in cuffs.
M quit a job a few months ago to get away from a bad phb. She texted me the following:

She was not aware that there was a camera in the director of nursing office. She was filmed stealing the DON's engagement ring off her desk. Cops came into bluebell viewed the tape put her In hand cuffs and walked her through the building and out the front door. It must have been a very expensive ring bc she can't afford her bail
New I have a tentative luncheon date
…next month with a former colleague across town (now a management puke, but I did her a few favors back when we were neighbors down on the food chain, and she remains favorably disposed these many years later), who promises to fill me in on the juicy details. I don’t know what went down, but if handcuffs were not involved, it was nevertheless something that got some senior knickers very twisted indeed, and I gather that the closest the negotiations got to talk of a golden parachute was to have the plane fly low over a brackish marsh before they kicked the guy’s ass out the cargo door sans silk.

cordially,
New "Spend more time with the family" is nearly always a euphemism
It generally means they're the only ones still willing to have you. Someday I hope to see a press conference where the departing bigwig says "... in order to spend more time with my family ..." and the wife leans in to the mic to say, "I don't fucking think so."

New Re: "Spend more time with the family"
The euphemism was mine. I don’t think that any formal announcement has been made (and the guy has not been seen in the here in Flatline Building for many moons, so it’s been something of a long goodbye), but there doesn’t seem to be any doubt that they fired his sorry ass.

cordially,
New Then I indeed heard it exactly as you meant it

New Yeah, and from what I hear
…it may have been his contravention of “don’t get laid where you get paid” that started the ball(s) rolling, although the fall may have ultimately played out along “coverup worse than the crime” lines. I’m looking forward to learning the details. In any event, good riddance.

cordially,
New Probably won't help you any
I've never seen "I told you so" actually help.

New help is irrelevant
Five months. The middle manager to whom I now report is afraid of me. They want to keep me, if not happy at least not too disgruntled as I convert various bits of my Mac-based work product into crude Windows equivalents (crude because they’ll have to be rendered into MS Word form—there’s no way BDS will rent the Adobe suite of apps, and so far as I can tell, there’s only one other person on the payroll who’d be competent to learn these—and she’s not more than a year or two behind me on her way out the door). Both the software and the equipment are mine, since following the 2003 merger BDS, formerly Mac-agnostic, went all Windows jihadist on me.

cordially,
