Strawberry?
Excellent! No personal experience. It looks like ActiveState and Strawberry were popular in 2012 on Win7. Maybe this thread will help a little - http://www.perlmonks.org/?node_id=984829 This bit on perl and UAC might be useful too - http://www.vivtek.com/perl/perl_uac.html It looks like some manual intervention is required if you don't have admin rights, but you should be good to go with Strawberry. http://strawberryperl.com/releases.html I haven't tried it myself, just hoping to save you some time. Good luck! Cheers, Scott. |

Execution restriction policies
Ours are locked down via GPO to not allow anything to run out of locations where user accounts have write access as a countermeasure to ransomware. Strawberry will not be able to run under those conditions. |

Not us
I was able to install and run chrome without problem. |

Now how about vim with no admin?

Looks like it can be done.
See gvim on Windows with no admin rights Alternatives to Haroogan's build of vim for Windows? cmder - a decent portable Windows console emulator I haven't used any of these things myself. HTH a little. Good luck! Cheers, Scott. |
